I use a simple analytics system to understand which essays people read and where visitors come from.

The system counts pageviews and groups traffic sources into broad categories, such as Google, X, YouTube, Reddit, and direct visits. Only the page path and traffic-source category are sent to the analytics system.

It doesn't use tracking cookies, visitor identifiers, fingerprinting, or sessions. It doesn't create individual browsing histories or store IP addresses in my analytics database.

The system uses Cloudflare to process analytics requests and store statistics. Cloudflare also processes technical connection information, including IP addresses, to operate and secure its infrastructure.

Daily statistics are kept for 24 months. Lifetime pageview totals are retained for each page and the website.
